Kid “Chopped” Class- based on the popular TV show.
June 26-28, 9am-12pm
This week is all about thinking outside of the box when it comes to creating dishes. The popular TV show “Chopped” features mystery ingredients that the chefs must incorporate into their dishes. They are given time limits and are judged on creativity, presentation and taste. In previous years, our “Chopped” days have been incredibly popular so at the demand of many campers, I have put together a camp that will not only be a lot of fun, but really allow your child to be creative. We will spend the first half of the day learning new techniques, skills and recipes that they will have to use during the challenge. After a break playing with the chickens and hopefully baby goats (we are in the process of building their home right now), the young chefs will come back into the kitchen to find mystery ingredients and a challenge to make either a dessert, dinner or appetizer. They will have access to a stocked pantry and the gardens on the property to supplement their dishes with. The young chefs will be working in teams which is fantastic for learning cooperation, respect and delegation of tasks.
Different levels of experience in the kitchen are welcome as I have found in the past that even if one doesn’t have the same skill levels with say a knife, they may be able to mix flavors in a unique way.
Respect and Kindness are my two major rules in my kitchen and I do not tolerate anyone to be treated without respect.
