This cooking course is all about getting your young chef to be able to create from scratch snacks independently in the kitchen and express their creative genius in ways that won’t leave your kitchen a disaster. I know that many of my students love to come home from school and start cooking or spend their weekends baking up a storm. They will be learning how to make their favorite snack foods from scratch and will be able to come home from school and instead of opening up a wrapper of their favorite granola bar, box of crackers/chips, they will instead reach for one of their homemade creations. We will also work on creating some delicious candies and treats.
Due to it being a winter session, there will be less outdoor time than in the fall and summer courses, but weather permitting they will still have time to get out and check on their favorite goats/chickens.
I chose Sundays instead of after school simply so that those who are driving don’t have to deal with Sugar Bottom Rd in the dark and winter.
This class will include peanuts/peanut butter. Please contact me before registering your child about any food allergies. If they can be around the food allergen but cannot consume it, that is your and your child’s choice whether or not to attend. I cannot insure zero cross contamination but do my very best.
We will work on some knife skills as well and kids will be cooking on stove tops. All of this is supervised and those who don’t feel comfortable do not have to participate.
