This is the first of a series of candy making classes. We will tackle many favorite candy bars copycat recipes and learn how to create your own signature candy. In this class we will learn about the science behind caramel and how that matters when during caramel into a candy. I will make the science part easy to understand yet useful for those wanting to start venturing into candy making. We will make soft caramels together- not using any corn syrup- which means this is truly candy making at the core and requires patience. You can simply just make the caramel candies and not the Twix part of the class. While the caramel is cooking, we will make shortbread for the Twix bars. I like making them into Twix cups (think Reese’s PB cups) using cupcake liners/tins. But will also show you the endless variations of this recipe. You can also use store bought caramels and melt them for the recipe. Here is the RECIPE
After each class, I will post a picture on instagram/Facebook for you to then post a picture of your creations. It may seem silly, but those pictures mean a lot to me and it’s been so fun watching your food photography skills advance! On that thread- post what copycat candy you want to see for July!
Classes will stream live on FB and be available on demand there as well. By joining the zoom class, you are able to ask questions and I am able to help you problem solve in real time.
