This class has been created to provide a sacred space for women who have experienced a loss, difficulty conceiving, miscarried, delivered a stillborn, or those who have gone on to have a Rainbow.  The Cooking and Connection classes at BMK combine the tradition of sharing stories over cooking and food in a judgement free and safe space.  It is a time and space dedicated to honoring the strength of every woman there- and acknowledging the bravery of just showing up.

I will have a variety of snacks (including gluten and dairy free), water, coffee and tea available.  We will start the class with a story from Mandy Webber who has graciously offered to facilitate the story telling as I have not personally experienced a miscarriage.  You can learn more about Mandy below.  After her story, we will make some special luxury bath treats including one to pay forward to another mom in your life as part of the BMK Pay If Forward Kindness Initiative.  The class then moves upstairs for the story sharing portion of the day.  You do not need to share your story at all but will have the opportunity to if you would like.  It is a space for you to ask questions, show courage in vulnerability and comfort in knowing you aren’t alone.  We then will head back down to BMK to decorate a cupcake to honor each mother and the option to decorate mini cupcakes for those not with us, and light a candle to celebrate their memory, the memories that never were and the unconditional love of each mother in the room.

If you come with a friend please consider carpooling.  Click HERE for directions and cancellation policy.

What is the Cooking and Connection Class Series?

This series of classes offers a place for those in the arena, those who find themselves face down in the dust and dirt yet choose to rise up over and over again.  Those who want to find fellow warriors to stand beside when the critics in the cheap seats need silenced.  This series aims to challenge the social pressures of strength being measured in accomplishments and instead we celebrate the courage in vulnerability, the honesty in failure and the joyful pain that is the shared human experience.

About Mandy Webber:

Mandy welcomed her Rainbow Baby, Brooke Lynn, October 2016 and another Rainbow Baby, William James, February 2019. She has been enjoying all that motherhood has to offer since. A North Liberty native, Mandy has spent almost her entire life in the Corridor. She took a brief hiatus and lived in Chicago for 5 years where she met her fun-loving husband, Tom. Mandy loves to spend time with loved ones, play and watch sports, hours of euchre, crochet, and bonfires. 2 things that will always win Mandy over? Cupcakes & corny jokes.

After working for a Fortune 500 company, non-profit, and many small businesses, Mandy has left “corporate America” to be an entrepreneur. She has many irons in the fire: Founder of Huddle Line, Brand Director of Tom Webber Real Estate, Thought Partner for Today’s Innovator, and Co-Founder of Webber Ventures. Mandy has a hard time saying “no” to an opportunity that allows her to utilize her skills and help others.

Her 16+ years of expertise include: entrepreneurship, innovation, marketing, project management, streamlining processes, strategic planning, branding, coaching, training, facilitation, and business development. She has a history of success in creating powerful collaborations and executing new initiatives.
