Garlic Herb Bread

Ingredients

  • 4 cloves garlic, pressed or finely minced
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 small bunch of parsley
  • 1.5 tsp sea salt
  • 1 T honey
  • 1 packet yeast
  • 4 c flour
  • 1 3/4 c warm water
  • sliced pepper and red onion and cheese optional to top the bread
  • Harvest Oil, I suggest using either Garlic/Roasted Onion and Cilantro/ Baklouti Green Chili/ Basil

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl combine the honey, warm water and yeast, stir and let sit for about 5 minutes.  

    In a small pan, heat a T or so of oil and cook the garlic, onion and parsley until the onions become translucent but not browned. 

    In a large bowl or a stand mixer, combine flour, salt, herb mixture and stir in the yeast mixture until a dough forms.  Knead for 10-15 minutes until the dough can be stretched between your fingers without breaking (window pane test). 

    Cover and let rise for about an hour.  Pull dough out and form into a round loaf and flatten down a bit with your fingers tips creating divots in the dough ( this will have the look of a focaccia loaf).  Top with the slices of peppers and red onion and drizzle with olive oil.  Let rise for another 30 minutes while the oven heats to 400.  Bake for ~35 minutes until bread is golden brown.
