Camp Description
This summer, we’re focusing on the basics that every young baker needs to feel confident in the kitchen while having a great time! This camp is for kids who love the idea of baking but still need to learn how to read recipes, measure ingredients, and master the little things that make a big difference when you’re baking.
What your child will learn:
- How to read and follow a recipe without needing to ask, “Wait, what does that mean?”
- The difference between dry and liquid measurements—so when a recipe calls for 1/2 cup, they’ll know exactly which one to grab. (fingers crossed)
- Hands-on skills like mixing, kneading, and portioning dough to create delicious baked goods.
What we’ll bake: Breadsticks
- Day 1: Kids will learn the basics by making classic breadsticks—measuring, mixing, kneading, shaping.
- Day 2: They’ll build on those skills by creating fun variations like cheesy breadsticks, stuffed breadsticks, or sweet cinnamon sugar twists.
Why stick with breadsticks?
Repetition builds confidence. By working with the same base recipe, kids will get to fix mistakes made the day before, refine skills and lean into creativity.
Kids will work in small groups, giving them the chance to learn from one another, and make new friends.
Who is this camp for?
- Kids who love baking but still rely on you to help figure out measurements or explain what the recipe is asking for.
- Even if your child has done beginner classes before, this camp is perfect for practicing those core skills that make independent baking easier.
By the end of camp, your child will feel more confident in the kitchen, better equipped to follow recipes on their own, and proud of the tasty treats they’ve made (whatever they end up being)!
I will send out an email the Friday before each camp with all the information you could ever want/need- if you don’t receive an email by Saturday night, please reach out. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email of your registration that includes my EIN for tax purposes- SAVE that email as I do not keep them and will not be able to resend it this time next year when the joys of tax season is upon us. It also has the info needed for flex spending accounts.
