Sourdough Scones (discard recipe)


  • 1 c discard/starter
  • 1/2-1 tsp baking powder- this is dependent on how strong your starter is
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 c flour (your choice here)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 stick butter, cold
  • 1 T Sugar for savory, 1/3 cup for sweet
  • herbs, spices, extracts of choice


  • Preheat oven to 400
    Cut up butter into small pieces- and place in fridge. Combine all dry ingredients and then crumble in butter. Add 1 c starter. Mix well until all is combined. The mixture should be a frim enough dough that you can form into a disk or cut into individual shapes. If it is too dry, add in whole milk or buttermilk, too wet, add in some flour.
    Bake for ~15 -20 minutes until golden brown.
